Renowned Hong Kong comic artist Li Chi-tak has been creating comics for over four decades and is known for his strong, delicate style and striking compositions. He is widely acclaimed by local and overseas readers and has earned titles such as 'Father of Hong Kong Independent Comics' and 'Hong Kong's Otomo Katsuhiro'. His work transcends genre and medium boundaries, from early independent comics to later long-form narratives, always maintaining a unique visual language and creative boldness. Among his works, 'Kill Qin', published in 1993, is a significant classic that not only shocked the entire Asian comics world at the time but also marked a turning point in his career —— boldly reducing the usual dense line-up and introducing free-flowing ink-like brushstrokes for the first time.
After a thirty-three-year hiatus, the universe of 'Kill Qin' is descending once more. 'Twice to Kill Qin Universe', a Hong Kong exhibition personally authorized by Li Chi-tak, will be held at the Harbour City Gallery from 27 May to 21 June 2026. The exhibition is divided into different dialogue areas by era and medium, inviting viewers to step into the vast, violent, and chivalrous world of the Warring States Period through more than thirty original drawings. The exhibited works include twenty-four masterpieces newly painted in ink and watercolor, two old pencil sketch manuscripts with new ink, and six precious unpublished manuscripts drawn in 1992.
In addition, the exhibition will also launch a series of limited-edition peripheral products, including four replica covers of 'Kill Qin' (three of which are exclusively sold at the Harbour City Gallery), magnetic mini lightboxes, acrylic stands, badges, T-shirts, collectible cards, and limited-edition bookplates. The exhibition will also offer an enlarged version of the White Tooth sculpture, limited to five pieces worldwide, while supplies last.
